As upstanding citizens of a modern community, we like to keep our ear to the ground and listen in on social media. Twitter is the platform we tend to hear the most Jeep japery from, and in particular, we’ve been seeing a lot of tweets along one line: Summer.
I really want a jeep, so I can take the doors and roof off.

Its Wrangler season.

You’re all right. It is the perfect time of year to own a Jeep, take the doors off, and go for a drive. All the better if that drive is well off the beaten path.
Jeep HQ is also well aware of the season, which is why they’ve started a series on the Jeep Blog called “Outfitting for Off-roading.” The goal of the series is to give all of you Jeep owners tips on how to better equip your car for a trip to the trails. The first post acts as a glossary, educating readers on terms they’ll need going forward. It includes vocabulary like:
Articulation – Articulation happens when one or more wheels are elevated and others are planted on the ground. This helps your Jeep drive over rocks and other objects you may encounter on the trail while maintaining stability.
And:
Crawl Ratio – Your Jeep’s crawl ratio is what allows it to climb steep inclines or take on taller rocks. It allows your vehicle to slowly maneuver up and over your obstacle without you having to use the accelerator.
Test your off-roading knowledge and see what else is on the list. You can view the Introduction of Outfitting for Off-roading here. Did they leave any terms out? Let us know in the comment section. Meanwhile, if your Jeep is missing any essentials, our Mopar-certified Parts Department at Leith Chrysler Jeep can get you up to full off-road capability. Stop by or order online, anyway you like.
