The Jeep Grand Wagoneer, fondly known as the “woody,” is finally returning to the Leith Chrysler Jeep dealership in 2018, and we couldn’t be more excited. 2018 is still more than two years away from the time of this post, but we couldn’t wait to write about it. This classic woody is not only an automotive staple, it’s also a major part of our childhood – and hopefully our adulthood.
What We Know
Details about the 2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer are currently under lock and key, but here’s what we know. The 2018 Grand Wagoneer is being built as an “upper luxury” SUV, competing with the likes of Ranger Rovers and Mercedes SUVs.
The 2018 is to be built on the 2017 Grand Cherokee platform and is projected to be the first three-row seating vehicle that Jeep has released since the Commander. We’re assuming it will be the largest model in Jeep’s fleet, which means it’ll need a powerful engine.
What We Don’t Know
Jeep’s engineering has vastly improved since the classic Jeep Grand Wagoneer was released to markets in 1963, but this is a large vehicle – will the 2018 guzzle gas?
To make sense for consumers, we have to believe that the next engine will be powerful and efficient. Luckily, Jeep already has an engine just like that. The 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 is an environmentally friendly powerhouse offering 30mpg on the highway and up to 7,400lbs of towing capacity. Since this engine is offered on the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we think it’s a likely fit for the 2018 Grand Wagoneer.
There’s also the 290HP 3.6L Pentastar® or the robust 360HP 5.7L V8, two engines we’re sure would fit quite nicely in the Grand Wagoneer.
Looking Forward
Jeep vows to unveil the 2018 Grand Wagoneer at their biennial showcase, scheduled for this fall. Seeing as how we’re still in August, you can expect our next Wagoneer post to be full of facts, rather than excited and impatient conjecture.
Keep your eyes on the blog or give us a call at the dealership if you have any questions or would like to talk about the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Any of our sales representatives would love to hear how excited you are for this upcoming model.
