The jig is up, the news is out, and we’ve finally found ourselves face to face with the 2015 Jeep Renegade.
Leaked earlier in the week, the first ever small SUV model from Jeep is now available for viewing on the official website. The page is currently missing performance data, but general speculation is that the Renegade will be powered by a 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine. It will of course be available with Jeep’s legendary Active Drive I 4×4 all-wheel drive system, hence the Trail Rated badge.
The Trailhawk model, featured prominently, shares many similarities to the Cherokee Trailhawk edition, including red tow hooks in the front and rear as well as special 17-inch blacked-out rims. Instead of getting fixated on the Renegade’s Jeep credentials, we want to point out what makes it unique. The “Jeepster,” as some called it leading up to the reveal, has a wide stance that narrows as it rises. It’s much more of a squircle than other Jeep vehicles, retaining a cubic figure that is sure to maximize space inside while rounding out its edges for greater aerodynamics.
We don’t have a lot of details on the interior or the technology within yet, but the little details that we can see just from these preproduction photos are endearing. The retro gas can motif, shown on the roof panels and the taillights is brilliant. Those roof panels can also be retracted like a regular sunroof or popped off completely and stored for an open air experience.
Feel free to sign up for updates via the link on their webpage, but know that Leith Chrysler Jeep will be here to keep you well informed on the 2015 Jeep Renegade.
