We said we would keep you up to date on new information about the new 2015 Jeep Renegade. At this point, Jeep hasn’t made any updates to the official page on their site, and there’s still no word on pricing, although you’re still welcome to sign up for email updates on that page.
Luckily, Car and Driver has dug up some tidbits in their article, “10 Things You Need to Know About the 2015 Jeep Renegade.”
Chief among these things to know is something you might be able to tell just from looking at the Renegade: It’s heavily inspired by the Wrangler. Sure, the headlights and grille are obvious, but the body language is also crucially Wrangler, as are the fenders.
There’s also the x motif, taken from the imprint on old fuel cans. There’s a big one on the roof and one inset on either taillight, but as part of the Chrysler group’s new love for Easter eggs, they’re also hidden in several other places on the Renegade.
Perhaps the most exciting fact about the Renegade, to us anyway, is that it was designed exclusively by the most junior members of the Jeep team. “Design a car for yourself,” they were told, and that’s what they did. In an industry, and a larger culture of business, where age can be mistaken for the sole arbiter of expertise and authority, it’s refreshing to hear that one brand is so willing to infuse young blood into their offerings. In many ways, the Renegade is exactly what Jeep needs to show that they’re willing to branch out and conquer new territory while still respecting their oh-so-rugged roots.
We only touched on about four of the ten things Car and Driver brings up, so you should read the full article on their site if you have a chance — they’ve also got a great photo gallery with even more details. In the meantime, Leith Chrysler Jeep will still be on the lookout for more news of the 2015 Jeep Renegade to share.
