As Jeep owners, it’s fair to say we give ourselves a little more credit than the average person. If you don’t yet own a Jeep, this is an important thing to realize when dealing with someone who does. We hold ourselves to higher standards from everything to the ruggedness of a vehicle to the level of debate we are able to establish. With that for context, we present this video of a nine-year-old girl driving a Jeep Wrangler.
It shouldn’t be any surprise that this video has traveled a long way around the internet (it has more than 13,000 likes on Facebook), and has stirred up a little bit of controversy. Now you can tell a couple of things by watching the video. She’s got her seatbelt on. Her father is there, giving her instructions, although he isn’t in the vehicle or anywhere that he can take control. Everything ends up ok. The little girl successfully traverses these rocks (better than some adults might be able to), and we can see that she’s got a bit of a chip on her shoulder.
So is this ok? Obviously in our state, she’s about seven years shy of being able to take the wheel on a populated road, but she seems to have a decent level of supervision. In fact, her dad has been taking her offroading since she was two years old. As we already said, she also took those rocks like a champ. The counterpoint is of course that there is a worst case scenario that didn’t play out but could have. What we want to know is should she be allowed behind the wheel at all in this situation?
