Sometimes a car makes such a tremendous turnaround, you find yourself wanting to ask whoever built it exactly what their design process was. You want to know what was going through their head. The 2015 Chrysler 200 is such a car, and Car and Driver met with exterior designer Jeff Hammoud and interior designer Klaus Busse to ask those tough questions.
In the interview, Hammoud and Busse discuss how they wanted the new 200 to live up to the promise of the Imported from Detroit campaign from two years ago. They say that instead of benchmarking their cars on the designs of others, they prefer to place their benchmarks in relation to the company’s own ambitions. This mentality is part of the philosophy at Chrysler, which has been renewed with a focus on execution and refined vision. That’s how they were able to start from the ground up for the 2015 model, creating a car with a new look and a new face, one that distances itself from the previous version of the 200, and also from the current version of the 300.
Watching this video will give you a whole new appreciation for the character line that runs the length of the car, and we’re also fans of the two-tone, chrome-ringed steering wheel. Inside and out, the 2015 Chrysler 200 is a thing of beauty.
